Just wondering....

Who ever said there was nothing sweet about 5 AM wake-up calls?

Not me!
My two new best friends. Is it possible for me to ever love doing laundry? Probably not, but these are AWESOME!!!

We're Back!!!

After 5 1/2 weeks away, we are happy to be back in Newport. Here is a picture of the never-ending hug with Daddy in the airport. All these pictures in this post are from my phone so they are not the best, but you get the idea!
Scarlett was happy to see her daddy again too!

Our house is still quite a work in progress, but here are some pictures so far. (The pantry door still needs to be stained to match the cabinets)
The kids rooms have carpet but the rest of the house is hardwood.

Floors
Part of the kitchen, but will mostly be used like an office. Still loving the sign, Sara. Actually, we will probably hang it over the front door.
Interior doors
They made this sandbox over the weekend.
Our bathroom
Still waiting for some of the fixtures, but at least its usable!
Kids bathroom, luckily Jaxon still likes sink baths!
Time to get back to unpacking!!!

We had a very hectic month of February working on the house, packing, and moving out of our beach place. Luckily, my parents came down to help at the end of the month. I barely survived, but massive amounts of coffee and chocolate helped. The kids and I have been in Friday Harbor for a few weeks with my parents while the house is getting finished... or close to move in ready. Right now the drywall is getting finished and they will start painting this week. We are all missing Jason lots and are excited to get home to see him. Jaxon is having a wonderful time running around and visiting his Washington friends and family. Scarlett is perfect as ever and it is so nice to be able to relax for a bit and give her more attention. She is changing quickly and is now 2 and a half months old. She is smiling lots and starting to coo when you talk to her. She likes to look at baby toys and is just starting to bat at them. (These pictures are all out of order bc it's late and I can't figure out how to edit on my dad's computer!)

Let the Countdown Begin...

We are officially moving out of our beach house at the end of the month. Whether or not we will actually have a house to move in to is up for debate at this point...
New garage door, and after it got installed Jason called on his way home from work saying he "Had to drive by and see his new baby" of course I thought he meant Scarlett. :) True story.
A lot has happened since my last house update but here are some of the highlights. The above picture is taken during the rainstorm we had a few weeks ago after Jaxon fell/purposefully walked straight in to it waist deep. This was formerly a koi pond and since it had a concrete liner it quickly filled up. That helped us decide that we wanted to take all the rocks out of the backyard. That led to...
This
And one happy bobcat driver
Rockless and level, we are ready for Smithy to come back to put a lawn in. (Hint, Hint!)
It is a pretty big backyard, by Southern California standards at least.
Last weekend's project was taking the face off of this fireplace so we could replace it. Or so we thought. Then we got a better look at the horrible condition the fireplace was put together to begin with. It would have never passed inspection and we would have had to rebuild the whole thing. So....
This ended up being the best option somehow.
We will just wall it off. There is another fireplace in the living room anyway.
Here you can see Scarlett's stroller in the yard. It is always carefully positioned so she is as far away as possible from the noise, dust, and overall demolition that is going on that day.
Don't worry, she still gets plenty of attention. Actually, when we are working at the house no matter what time of day it is, she manages to sleep almost the entire time!
We are on to her though, she just knows that if she wakes up, we will put her to work!
