In case you didn't know...

Jaxon is riding his trike really well now.  He is fast!!!  He loves to go out on the boardwalk, but especially loves sidewalks with grates.
He also got a haircut last week, it was a really fun experience.  At least 20 minutes of non-stop screaming.  His hair is thick and grows pretty fast so we have to get it cut every 3-4 months, since he was about 10 months old, but he hates it.  We go to Cool Cuts 4 Kids, where they get to sit in a car or plane and watch fun movies like Thomas, but he still screams the whole time.  I've tried bringing lollipops, or m & m's, having him sit on my lap, nothing works.  The hair gets all over both of us, in his eyes and mouth, because he is struggling so much and of course that makes it worse.  For one thing he doesn't like strangers and them touching his head is even worse.  I think his head and hair is sensitive because he really doesn't like anyone to touch it.
I think I am going to invest in a pair of hair clippers, he might let me (or Jason) do it without putting up as much of a fight.  Even if he cries, which I'm sure he will, I would rather have him cry at home instead of at the haircutters.  I swear, you would think we were torturing him!  But then, when it is all over, he hops off his chair and runs to the train table like nothing ever happened and is back to being my cheerful little boy!
Hope everyone is having a great week!!!

Visit Part Two

Oops, these posts got mixed up... read Visit Part One first, I'm still new to this, right???

Fun boat cruise around Newport Harbor.  Jake was a great captain, Jaxon and Lilly helped too!

Lilly's first trip to Disneyland.  We had so much fun!  It was a 90 degree day there, so it could have been a little cooler for us, but other than that it was a blast!

Playground fun

Of course every day needed to end with an episode of Mickey and the Hot Dog dance!  I think they had a great visit and hopefully they will come back soon because we miss them already!

Visit Part One

Our cousins Jake, Alethia and Lilly came to visit last week and we had the BEST time ever!  In fact, I took so many pictures that I had to post them all!  At least I did collages!!!  :) When Lilly first saw this big Mickey from Mimi, she was so excited she was practically hyperventilating.  She LOVES all the characters, especially Minnie.  That is when I told Alethia we had to take her to Disneyland for sure!

We headed straight to the fun zone where we took the kids on the ferris wheel.  I usually make Jason take Jaxon because ferris wheels are definitely not my fave, but he wasn't home from work yet so I had to take one for the team.  Actually, it wasn't bad at all.  Aren't my self-portrait pics impressive???  I'll keep practicing, I promise.  The view from the top of the ferris wheel makes it worth going on.  You might notice Jaxon's latest boo-boo above.  He ran straight into the gate post into a screw head (while running around showing off for Uncle Brandon).  Ouch!  He cried very hard until the idea of a popsicle was mentioned.

More fun and games at the Fun Zone.  We are so lucky to live only a few blocks away.  Actually, sometimes it can be a bad thing that we live so close!

Fun at the beach and lunch at Ruby's on the Balboa Pier.

Happy Easter!!!

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter.  This Easter was really special to us because it is the first Easter that Jaxon really understood about the holiday and was very excited for the Easter Bunny to come.  (He still wanted to keep his distance as you can see in the pic above)
Yay, it's finally Easter... Do you think the Easter Bunny came???
Let's go check!
He had a lot of fun finding the eggs we had hidden and it was fun to hide them and get into the holiday.  It brought back memories of when we were kids.
This is the Dinoco helicopter he had been asking the Easter Bunny to bring him for a few weeks. He actually said "Are you kidding me right now?" when he found it hidden behind the couch, it was really cute!
Some of us were better behaved than others at church, but we're learning!
Lucky for us, our church is only 5 blocks away, somehow we still manage to be late a lot!
What an amazing day!

Dance Party

Uh-oh, this looks like trouble.......
Actually, this is just another place for them to get down and party together!

During the week, Jaxon doesn't get to see his daddy too much, but they sure do make the most out of whatever time they get to spend together.
Juice break!!!

Construction Zone

They are building a house on the empty lot two doors down.  The construction started last week and Jaxon and I have been spending quite a bit of our free time watching all the work going on.  Today they were digging the foundation and they had a bobcat and a mini-excavator to help.
The excavator driver offered to let him help but he was more than happy to just watch at first. In the pic above, our house is the second house behind the green fence, so we can't see the work being done from our house, but we can definitely hear it.  This comes in handy because Jaxon can hear when the machines are working or when they are resting!
He eventually made it over to stand on the treads and have a deep conversation with one of the workers about all the equipment and assuring him that he will be there every step of the way if they ever need any help!
I had to add this cute video of him playing baseball on the beach this weekend.  Please excuse the camera person, she does not have a steady hand!!!

Pre Pre Preschool!!!

Today was Jaxon's second session of his Pre Pre Preschool class at St. Andrew's Presbyterian.  I have heard so many wonderful things about this preschool that we really wanted to sign him up.  Well he isn't eligible for the drop-off preschool until the fall after next because of his age.  This class is more like a mommy and me class for 1 hour and 15 minutes a week.  I stay with him the whole time and it's basically free play inside and outside of a classroom and then for the last 15 minutes we have circle time and sing songs.
It is perfect for Jaxon because next fall is the Parent/Child class where the class is 2.5 hours once a week and I leave for the last 15 minutes or so to ease him into the following year where it is drop-off preschool 2-3 mornings a week.   I am hoping this will get him so familiar with the other kids and teachers so the drop-off won't be a big deal for him (or me!!!).  He is very attached and slow to warm up to new people and I want preschool to be a happy experience for him.  He might look like a tough guy, but he is a big softie at heart...  :) I love it that he does love to cuddle and snuggle because I know it's not going to last forever.  Who knows, maybe when he's a teenager I will still force him to sit on my lap.  :) Maybe I am crazy and over-thinking this whole thing, and I'm sure he would be fine no matter what, but I am happy with the way this is going to work out.
I really like the class and was lucky to get in now to hopefully ensure that I have a spot for next year because I get to register at an earlier date now.  This school is not quite as crazy as the ones where you basically have to sign them up before they are born, but it can be tough to get into.  I'm generally not into all that hype, but if we are going send Jaxon to a preschool, I want it to be one that I've heard great things about like this one is.  The teachers and other kids all seem very nice and very friendly.  This class ends in June but they have a summer program once a week that sounds like fun too.  I also like the religious aspect of it too, I am trying to get better at teaching that to Jaxon, and this helps reinforce that.  Right now one of his favorite books is The Christmas Story (from Mimi) and he loves looking at baby Jesus and all the angels and animals. www.standrewspres.org/childrens/weekday.html
