We've got Scarlett Fever!!!

We had our high definition ultrasound this morning and thankfully everything looked great again.  The doctor said we are "definitely having a little lady"!  We love the name Scarlett Rose.  After the ultrasound, Jaxon and I went to his summer preschool where he held a baby doll, hugged it and kissed it and kept calling it Baby Scarlett!  I think he is just as excited as we are for a baby sister and wanted to go pick out a pink blanket for her.   Of course, somehow he ended up  with a new pack of cars for himself too.  :)

The Wedge

Due to a southern swell off of Tahiti all of Southern California was getting hit with huge waves yesterday and today.  The Wedge was definitely the place to be though because of it's 20+ foot waves.  We went and checked it out for a couple hours today and it was insane.  There were hundreds of people, photographers and news crews lined up and down the beach to watch the waves and the people crazy enough to ride them.  Luckily we could ride our bikes there because it's been bumper to bumper traffic here the whole day.

The lifeguards were checking everyone who wanted to go in to make sure they had enough experience.  They were doing a great job with hundreds of rescues over the past few days.  An intense job for sure!

You can see one brave guy riding a wave here.
You can see the tiny dots of people at the bottom of this huge wave.
We went back to Legoland again last week for some more fun.
They have these cool rooms there where the kids can just build and play with legos.  This part of the room is for building your own race car and racing them down ramps.  Jaxon loved it!

Baby Update

I had an ultrasound this morning and we got the wonderful news that our baby is healthy!  We are beyond thankful and excited.  Our ultrasound technician still thinks the baby looks like a girl but it is still a little early and she didn't want to say 100 percent.  I have another ultrasound in a few weeks so we will find out for sure then.  The most important thing to us is that the baby is healthy regardless of the sex.  Thank you to all of you for your prayers, love and support through this pregnancy and the past year and a half.  Knowing so many people loved and cared about us truly kept us going.  You can never know how much you mean to us.

House Hunters

Here is the link to the latest house we are making an offer on.  We are really excited about it.  It would need a ton of work, but is in a great location for an unbelievable price.  Are we up to it?  Who knows!  We may have to call in some professionals.  :)  In the meantime, we have been busy having lots of fun in the sun.
Yes, they did hijack this boat in the bay.

We all went to Legoland last weekend and had a blast.  It was fun to have Jason with us because usually we go to all the fun places during the week while he is at work.

Beach time with Daddy (photo out of place, but too late to try to edit!)
He loved seeing all of his favorite characters made of Legos.
Our storytime this week took a field trip to the fire station, how fun!

Bay time
Movie time
And pool time at Uncle Brandon's.  What a life!!!

Long Beach Aquarium

Jaxon and I went to the Long Beach Aquarium on Tuesday.  We regularly meet my good friend there with her kids.  She lives in L.A. so this is a great halfway point for us to meet.  It was lots of fun especially because each time we go, Jaxon gets more and more interested in looking at the sharks, fish, etc. instead of just playing around.  There is still plenty of playing around too though.  :)  These clownfish (Nemo's) were so cool.

Apparently, he's still not too fond of live animals/characters.  Tonight was my monthly bookclub night with my girlfriends from teaching in Anaheim.  We started it when we were all teaching at the same school in 2003 and are still going strong.  When we first started some of us were married or engaged, but no one had kids yet.  Now all 8 of us are married with at least one kiddo.  It's always fun to catch up, get advice about our kids, do a little gossiping about the old days, and maybe manage to talk a little about the book we are reading too!  :) I had to take a little break while I lived in WA, but I still tried to follow along and read the books.  This month we are reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, it looks like a good one.  Today I was able to sneak in getting a long overdue pedicure before the meeting.   It was so nice and had been way too long!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July.  We had a great time celebrating this year.
Floating in the bay across the street.  As you can see, the water is not the cleanest, but it is a lot safer than the beach when the waves are big.
In the afternoon there was a boat parade in the harbor that was fun to watch.

Jaxon decided that his car could also serve as a boat, and had lots of fun waving to the boats as they went by saying, "They are in their boats and I'm in mine!"
Unfortunately with all the fun and festivities of 4th of July brings a little (actually a lot) of craziness to Newport.
We got rear-ended in bumper to bumper traffic a few blocks from our house.  These pics aren't the best, but the back of the car is all scraped up and the trunk won't even close so Jason had to tie it down.
Luckily no one was hurt, and the biggest complaint from Jaxon was that his milkshake got knocked over!  I realize that almost every post involves Jaxon drinking a milkshake, I'll work on it!!!
We were invited to a BBQ around the corner from our house and Jaxon and I had a great time making cupcakes for it.
They were far from gourmet, but patriotic, fun for us to make together and yummy to eat.  I usually don't have him help me in the kitchen because everything takes at least twice as long, and makes twice the mess, but he always has fun when we make things together so I would like to make more time for that.
He loved waving the flag at everyone passing by and saying, "Happy 4th of July!"
The kids all got their energy out by chasing a remote control car.
We were so happy to have Jason home for a 3 day weekend too!  Yay!
